
Little Eagle Woman Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Kara One Feather, age 30, of Little Eagle, South Dakota, appeared before United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann on July 23, 2012, and pled guilty to a Superseding Information that charged her with Wire Fraud. The maximum penalty upon conviction is 20 years in custody, a $250,000 fine, or both. The conviction arose from charges that One Feather used interstate wire communications to defraud a Nebraska man of approximately $13,000 from July 2010 to January 2011 by making false and fraudulent representations to the victim, who wired money to her bank in South Dakota. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson. A presentence investigation was ordered, and a sentencing date was set for October 22, 2012. The defendant was released on bond pending sentencing. |
